Where are you based – what areas do you cover?

We are based on the Kent/Surrey border, We do a lot of work in the South East, however we will work nationwide.

Can you deliver and work anywhere in the UK?

Yes we can. 

Can I book a site visit?

Yes, we offer a free estimate and depending on location/project size, a free site visit to assess your site, to assess your initial design requirements and thoughts.

Do I need planning permission?

In some instances, projects can go through under-permitted development. But on many commercial and industrial sites, full planning permission will be required – link to planning services.

Do you offer project design?

Yes, we offer a full architectural design service facilitated by our in-house architectural team, link to the design service page

Can you provide engineering design & calculations?

Yes, we offer a full structural, civil and drainage design service creating all data required for your project/build – link to the engineering service page.

Do I need foundations, footings or a slab?

Yes, depending on soil type and existing structure. We will carry out all investigation works required to ascertain your foundation requirements. In some instances, existing structures can be re-used.

Do I need to use all of your services or can I cherry-pick them?

We offer a full turnkey solution offering all of our services, but you can cherry-pick individual or multiples of our services as required e.g. you may already have an architectural design and require Carnegie Steel Buildings to produce structural and civil calculations. 

What are the lead times for delivery/Project?

Duration lead times for building delivery vary depending on manufacturing schedules and could be as little as 4 weeks but an average would be between 6-8 weeks depending on the materials required. Project duration varies greatly depending on the size and scope of the project, a guideline of estimated lead times and project duration will be provided in your estimate.

What are CDM regulations?

CDM regulations are a set of health and safety regulations that apply specifically to construction projects (could link to the HSE CDM pdf available online, https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg411.pdf).

Do you offer a main contractor service?

Yes, we hold the primary contract with the client or project owner and are responsible for the control over the construction phase of the project and coordinating other contractors. We are also happy to work as a subcontractor to other main contractors. 

What is the maximum / minimum building project sizes you’ll undertake?

We cover projects from small agricultural storage buildings to large-scale Industrial and Commercial projects. Please contact us for an estimate to assist you in understanding your likely project costs.

Are you and your team insured and compliant?

Yes, we hold liability, professional indemnity, contractors all-risk, and hired-in plant insurance. 

Do staff have qualifications that we can refer to or any other related experience?

Yes, all staff have up-to-date training relevant to their roles, including health and safety, plant, and project management.

What business accreditations or affiliations do you hold?

We are silver members of ConstructionLine and are RIDBA members along with multiple qualifications for site compliance.

Can I see previous projects?

Yes, If you are happy with our pricing and preliminary designs and you would like to proceed with BM Steels but wish to reassure yourselves.
